Beulah came to be one of the Canaan Dogs of Anacan on the 9th January 1999. Her former owners had to part with her and they asked if we would like to take her on. We had to juggle things around a bit in order to accomodate Beulah and so she was fostered for us for several months by a fellow Canaan Dog Club of the United Kingdom member, Michelle Powell. We were able to breed Beulah to our Digger and she had a lovely litter of 4 boys on the 7th October 1999. One of these, Leib (who is black with white trim) went to reside in Denmark and was, when he arrived there, the only Canaan Dog in that country. He had a nice write-up in the Danish Kennel Club magazine. Another from that litter, Anacan The Israelite At Dunline, was the first Canaan Dog in the UK to win a Best in Show in February 2001. (See Abraham for details.) Of course we kept one of the pups for ourselves, the gorgeous Remy.

Beulah had quite an enviable show record to her credit having won Best of Breed at Crufts on three occasions-- in 1996, 1997 and again in March 2000 after achieving motherhood! At Crufts 2001 she was Best Bitch and Best of Opposite Sex, and at the first Canaan Dog Club Open Show on the 11th November 2001, Beulah was Reserve Best in Show!

Beulah settled in well in the Anacan household and I believe she loved us as much as we loved her. She was healthy all her life and impressed everyone who attended the Canaan Dog Club of the UK Fun Day held on our premises in July 2010 with both her relatively youthful appearance and vigor. Then at 16 years 2 months of age she suddenly started showing her age and just became weaker over a period of a few days. We decided it was time to release her from this life and allow her to join her one true love, our Digger. We like to believe that the two of them were happily reunited and are running around heaven just waiting for us to join them. Thank you Beulah for being a part of our lives.
