Canaan Dogs of Anacan

ANACAN DARK SIDE OF TH MOON
(Sire: Anacan Issachar/Dam: Anacan Silhouette)
Date of Birth: 11th September 2014

Anacan Dark Side of the Moon
Luna at 7 mos of age winning Best Puppy in Show & Reserve Best Bitch at the Canaan Dog Club of the United Kingdom's Single-Breed Open Show held 19th April 2015..

Luna was the only surviving puppy in her litter. Her sibling, who was born by C-section, didn't make it. We never asked what sex it was. So Luna grew up as an 'only child'. She was and is a confident, happy puppy, having inherited her mother's lovely temperament and intelligence. We sold her to a family who had been on our waiting list for a long time and I told them that temperamentally she was the best puppy I have bred to-date. However, a month later she was returned to us when her owners could not cope with her puppy nipping. This is common to all puppies of all breeds and we quickly 'nipped it in the bud' by holding her mouth shut and saying 'no' whenever she got overly nippy while playing with us. I must say I was very happy to get Luna back as she was one I would rather have never sold.

Anacan Dark Side of the Moon
Luna - 23rd March 2015

Richard took Luna to her first show, the British Utility Breeds Association Open Show, on 21st March 2015 and he said her tail was up and wagging the entire time he walked her around the venue. She wanted to greet everyone and every dog and actually climbed into one person's lap. There was only one other puppy in her class, but she won it and got Best Puppy. This was an achievement when you consider she hasn't had any ring training and has hardly even been on a lead.

Luna 's next show was the Canaan Dog Club of the United Kingdom's 15th Annual Single-Breed Open Show on the 19th April 2015. Once again she was happy and friendly and went around the ring with her tail up. Judge, Ken Bartlett, was very taken with her and awarded her Best Puppy in Show and Reserve Best Bitch! She's been to three championship shows since then and was Best Puppy at The National on the 8th May 2015 under judge, Keith Nathan, and again at the Scottish Kennel Club championship show on the 15th May under judge, Mr R A Rowe. She was then Best Puppy and Reserve Best Bitch at Bath Championship Show on the 25th May under judge, Richard Kinsey, and at the Paignton Champ Show 4th August 2015 was Best Puppy and Best Bitch under judge, Shaun Watson.

I just have to share one of her show critiques with you, written by Mr Keith Nathan - a long-time Canaan Dog judge - who judged The National in May 2015. It goes as follows: "Minto's Dark Side of the Moon, 7 months, black, outstanding temperament. She is of correct size & balance. Very fluid on the move & absolutely sound. Loved her head & eye. Excellent front & rear angles. A picture. BP". We are hopeful she will continue with her show successes and she is on track for this year's Best Puppy award. We also look towards her future successes in the whelping box when her time comes.

Luna is full of energy and is fun to live with, even when she has her mad 15 minutes when we affectionately call her 'Luna the lunatic'. She is a lovely addition to the Anacan Canaan Dogs and we are so happy to have her as part of our lives.
