She's small but perfect. That's what our vet said after examining little Misha when she was 8 weeks old. See, we almost lost her when she was 3 days old. I went in to check on her mum and the puppies when I got up in the morning and Bea held Misha in her mouth as if to show her to me. She was limp and dehydrated. I believe she got stuck behind her mother all night and had been unable to nurse resulting in dehydration. I quickly gave Misha some glucose solution and continued to do so every hour until she had the strength to suck. I gave her a supplementary bottle of puppy milk 3 times a day for two weeks until she was able to hold her own with the other puppies.

We never meant to keep Misha, but we lost the home we had lined up for her and just never found another. Our dear friend, Freda, kept saying she was happy because she wanted us to keep Misha. Freda is 86 years young and could not take Misha on herself, but being able to visit her whenever she wants to was a second best. Little Misha is very sweet and loves meeting new people and plays with both our other Canaans and our Tibetan Spaniels. She is best of friends with our little Tibbies Sparkle and Tickle.

Along with her wonderful temperament, Misha has beautiful conformation and movement, so we decided to give her a go in the show ring and she hasn't disappointed us as she was Top Canaan Puppy 2012, having won a Best of Breed along the way! And as you can see from the photo at the top of the page, she was Reserve Best Bitch at Crufts 2014 under judge, Christine Owen. Who knows what the future will hold for this little girl, but one thing is sure - she will remain a much-loved part of the Anacan family as long as she lives.
